Types of Therapy

As a licensed mental health counselor, I provide specific services to clients in the state of Missouri.

Social Anxiety: Exposure and Response Prevention

Exposure and response prevention (ERP) is a treatment for social anxiety disorder that involves gradually exposing clients to feared social situations. Clients develop coping skills and begin to challenge negative thoughts. Research shows clients experience significant improvement in their symptoms with this highly effective treatment. As a mental health counselor, I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with social anxiety and other anxiety disorders, and can help develop a personalized treatment plan.

Focused Mind

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps clients develop greater psychological flexibility by accepting their thoughts and feelings rather than trying to control or avoid them. Clients learn mindfulness and cognitive defusion skills. This type of therapy allows clients to clarify their personal values and take action towards living a meaningful life. Research has shown ACT can be an effective treatment for anxiety disorders.

Relaxation

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy emphasizes the importance of compassion and empathy in the therapeutic relationship. I create a safe and supportive space for the client to explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or criticism.

Compassion and empathy help the client and counselor develop a  strong therapeutic alliance, creating a greater sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance for the client.

Research has shown that this type of therapy can be an effective treatment for a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.
